Project Management Meeting -6th-8th November 2019

Between the 6th and 8th of November, the first meeting of teachers from the different schools participating in the Retelling Europe project took place at IES Rodrigo Caro in Coria del Río, as coordinating school. This project will deal about the changes that have taken place in Europe in general and in our towns in particular, in the last 50 years. The topics are very varied, from food, education, the role of women, urban changes, folklore, handcraft, traditional professions and immaterial heritage. Our main purpose is to promote families and local townspeople’ participation in the schools and make them the main source of students’ learning, too.

The partner schools are the following:

– Istituto Professionale Alberghiero Turistico – Villa San

Giovanni, Reggio Calabria, Italy.

– Secondary School «Prof. Nikola Marinov», Targovishte, Bulgaria.

– Podstawowa Szkola Spoleczna «Niedzwiednik», Gdansk, Poland.

– Coláiste Pobail Setanta, Dublin, Ireland.

The teachers met to organize the project and agreed on dates for meetings, necessary documents, tools for communication and dissemination, type of activities that students will carry out and agreements on accommodation and meals during LTT activities . After the work sessions, the foreign teachers and the Spanish Erasmus team of teachers visited different places in Seville and Coria related to the topics to be addressed in the project (food, folklore, education, changes in the role of la mujer, urban changes, heritage preservation). In addition, all teachers and students were received at Coria Town Hall by the Mayor,.

The Spanish students participating in the project, together with many others at the school, collaborated in the decoration for the meeting and held presentations on the participating countries, while they delivered various souvenirs and work material to the foreign teachers.

On Friday 8th, students and teachers shared a typical Spanish breakfast of chocolate with churros at the school cafeteria, accompanied by representatives of the AMPA (parents’ association), associations of women and elder people , the mayor of Coria and the council representative for education.

This has been the start of our project, which we expect will be successful and worthwhile for all the participants and schools involved.

Our acknowledgement to Mrs Silvia Angela Giordano and Mrs Daniela Quattrone for their significant contribution to our project.
